HomeSeer HS2
was developed in MS .NET
The .NET environment offers greatly improved reliability and promises
better compatibility with the future!
HomeSeer HS2 now runs as a Windows service under Win XP
and Win 2000
This change improves reliability and allows HomeSeer to start without a user
log-in. This is especially important for recovery from reboots and power
outages!
Event and Script execution is now multi-threaded
This allows all events and scripts to run concurrently instead of sequentially
(one at a time), improving performance significantly.
Voice Recognition and Text-to-Speech can now run as a distributed
application on any computer. Here are some of the uses for this:
- Personalize each computer to its user by storing different
voice recognition speech profiles on each.
- Use different Text-to-Speech (TTS) voices on each computer.
- Use voice recognition
and TTS announcements to control and monitor your HomeSeer
PC from any computer in your house!
- Create HomeSeer events that play WAV files or speak TTS announcements
to specific computers in your house.
- Supports concurrent voice recognition and TTS announcements on
multiple computers.
- Send text messages to any computer in the home from any other
computer (in the home or via the internet)
Event triggers and conditions now support device
value ranges
Especially useful for events and conditions based on temperature
(ie "when the temperature is between 65 and 72, do this....")
Event actions can now be executed in a specific order, and
multiple actions of the same type can exist in the same event
Example: Now, it's possible to have one event that speaks, turns
on a light, and speaks again, all in that order!
All HomeSeer options may now be accessed via the Web Interface
With HS2, it's now possible to configure all options remotely!
