Happy Nor'easter!
Those of you in warmer climates had reason to be thankful yesterday as the year's first major 'nor'easter' storm raced up the east coast. Predictions for snowfall in our area ranged from 10-15 inches. Fortunately for us, southern NH faired quite a bit better than our neighbors to the south and west; we only got about 6-8". Of course, winter is a long way from being over!

  Update on HomeSeer v2.0 (HS2)
We've been working with the latest MS .NET v2.0 framework and have found it to be a significant improvement over .NET v1.1 in a number of areas. Look for a beta release of HomeSeer v2.0 or the .NET 2.0 framework sometime in March. See the message board for announcements about this new release.

The latest update for HS2 is v2.0.2041 [download]

  New HomeSeer Plug-ins

Two new HomeSeer plug-ins were released since the latest newsletter. The first was our Apple iTunes® plug-in. This new plug-in communicates directly with iTunes and allows HomeSeer users to access and play any song, artist, album or playlist from their iTunes music library or from any connect iPod®. Manual control and 'event' control are both supported. Price: $39.95 (see promo below!!!)

Our new INSTEON basic plug-in is designed to control all INSTEON lighting devices for on-off-dim functions. The plug-in is currently a beta release and may be downloaded for testing from within the HS2 updater. A more comprehensive INSTEON plug-in is also under development and is slated for release later this year. Price: FREE to all HomeSeer HS2 users!

  PRO-100 Released!

Our new automation controller, the PRO-100, was released in mid-December! The new controller features embedded HomeSeer PRO software running under Windows XP embedded.  The operating system is fully protected on a 'write-only' flash module and only essential drivers and services are installed.  The unit has no moving parts for greater reliability and consumes only 15 watts in normal operation. It is the ONLY control of its type to include ALL of these features:

  • Built-in Web Server
  • Voice Recognition (VR)
  • Text-to-Speech (TTS)
  • Email Messaging
