The Z-Troller is a handheld, self-contained Z-Wave primary controller and PC interface. The Z-Troller allows you to communicate and control a network of Z-Wave devices with your computer.

[edit] Hardware Usage

To be able to use the Z-Troller, you must first insert fresh batteries to power the unit up. When not being used to aquire devices throughout the house, the unit should be plugged in to preserve battery life.

[edit] Deleting Devices

Once the Z-Troller is on, you are ready to load devices. If the device you wish to add to your Z-Wave network was previously on a different network, it must be deleted from that network before you will be able to add it to your network. To delete a device from its current network, hold the "Delete" button down on the Z-Troller (the unit should say "del" on the screen) and hold a button down on the device. The Z-Troller will say "HOLD" for a moment and after that, the device will be deleted from its network.

[edit] Adding Devices

Once you have removed the device from any network it was previously associated with, you are ready to add it to your network. Adding a device to your Z-Wave network can be accompleshed in much the same way as deleting devices as discussed earlier. To add a device you simply hold down the "Add" Button on the Z-Troller and hold a button down on the device. The Z-Troller will display "HOLD" for a moment and once that goes away, the Z-Troller displays the node number of the newly added device. The node number of a device is simply a numerical reference to that device.
